How It Works
LocalXML™ is a perfect solution for web publishers that want to include business listings on their web properties.
The LocalXML database contains over 16 million U.S. business records, including essential information, such as name and phone number, as well as detailed fields like business size, latitude/longitude, other business names and business reviews.
Qualified publishers can also gain access to over 150,000 local and national advertisers, targeted to the queries that your users are making on your site. Publishers integrating these ads often see CPMs in excess of $15.
Both business data and sponsored listings are accessed by calls to XML feeds, which requires a keyword and location to be passed in order to return results. These results can be formatted to fit your needs on your web properties in any number of ways. You can also supplement the LocalXML data with your own data to provide a unique experience for users.
The LocalXML API allows publishers to interact with the LocalXML service in four key ways:
- Search API:
Proper integration of the Search API will allow your users to receive accurate results for what + where searches that they perform on your site or application. When you pass an http request with the proper variables to the LocalXML service, it will return the corresponding results via XML. - Business Detail API:
The Business Detail API is similar to the Search API, except that instead of returning summary data for several businesses, it returns more detailed data, including reviews, for an individual business. - Review API:
The LocalXML Review API allows publishers to post reviews to the LocalXML service, which joins them to the business that the user is reviewing. While publishers are free to build their own review modules to access the LocalXML service, we've provided a customizable JavaScript module to make integration of reviews simple and easy. - Sponsored Search API:
The sponsored search API allows qualified publishers to integrate pay per click text ads on their business results and details pages to create an effective revenue stream. The ad inventory is made up of more than 150,000 local and national advertisers bidding on millions of keywords. The text ads display by passing a keyword and/or location.
